In this lesson we will have some examples of how the letters are joined together to form a word:

Example 1
Let's start with a simple word:
The word "Shams" (Which means "Sun") consists of the following letters:
The letter "Sheen", then "Meem" and finally "Seen".

Remember to start from right to left.
Last letter ( Final form ) + Meem (Medial form ) + Sheen (Initial form )

After joining the letters together we have the word "Shams":

Now let's try another word (How about my name??)

Example 2
If you don't know my name till now, well.. it is FADI (I think it should have been FADY... you'll know why in the next lesson!!!!). Let's write it down:
It starts with an "F" that's equivalent to the letter "Fa'" in Arabic Fa'.
The next letter is "A", that's "Alef" in Arabic Alef.
Then a "D" which is "Dal" Dal.
Finally an "I" or a "Y" which is "Ya'" in Arabic Ya (More on that in the next lesson).
The word would be formed as follows :
Last letter ( Detached form ) + Dal (Detached form ) + Alef (Medial form ) + First letter (Initial form )

After joining the letters together the word will be written as follows:

Check out my Recommended Arabic Language Resources. I reviewed these BOOKS, SOFTWARE or HARDWARE. Click on any of the rotating images below for more details:

Note: Remember that the letters "Alef" and "Dal", both are from the six letters that can't be joined with the letters that comes after them, when they are in the middle or beginning of the word (The two rules that explain this case are in the previous lesson!!). Because of this, the letters "Dal" and "Ya'" were written in a detached form (The letter "Dal" came just after the letter "Alef" and the letter "Ya'" came just after the letter "Dal").

Now .. try reading the following two words which are English words written using Arabic script (for a tip, let the mouse pointer stand still on each word for a second):

 A data storage media !!
you call someone with this !!
